My Approach
I consider the therapy room sacred space. I feel honored when clients sit down on my couch and allow me the privilege to listen. Each person, maybe even you, bravely come with stories of the most intimate parts of life. It isn’t always easy or pain-free. It takes courage to show up. My job is the psychology. To listen. To make it feel safe. To ask questions and uncover negative thinking patterns. To help give voice to the inner wounds and make space for feelings that need to be felt. To create warmth and acceptance that allow you to feel what you feel and know what you know. And while I might be the psychology expert; You are the expert on you. This is a collaboration. We will work together to achieve your goals, keeping first and foremost your values.
AND WHENEVER POSSIBLE, I LIKE TO BRING HUMOR & LIGHT-HEARTEDNESS INTO SESSION; SOMETIMES WE JUST NEED TO LAUGH.
In therapeutic terms, I am eclectic. I borrow from many different schools of thinking and will incorporate skill building, psychoeducation and interventions from many theories during our time together. My theoretical framework is primarily from an Attachment Based & Trauma Informed lens. This means I find it helpful to find the roots of our wounds; often the pain in the present has strings to the past.
